More sketches

One is a test image I did using watercolor.. I had to gear up for 19 portrait images I'm doing for an RPG right now.. I wanted to work out a, somewhat, consistent approach to the series. I've done OK so far, but some pictures beg for a slightly different treatment.. I'll actually be repainting one, just to match it with the style of the others.. That's always been one of my challenges.. Stylistic consistency.

Obi and Sidious

This piece actually came out better than I expected. Simple concept. Obi-wan( younger version) Vs. Sidious. The picture became a little more fun when I got really sloppy with it.

Galaxy Rangers

Blast from the past.. I barely remember the cartoon, but I love the 80's throwback animation. I also wanted to draw horses- or horselike creatures at least. I had some dilemma with how much shadowing to put on the faces. I didn't want to cop out and leave it for the tones. But.. I'm not happy with the whole piece but at least I made some mistakes to avoid next time. About the crappy hatching in the BG.. Well, I was using a suspect Pen-Brush and I had to hurry and get this one wrapped up on my lunch break..

Hot Fuzz

Love the movie. I've been itching to draw something that required a likeness in it too. The likenesses are meh.. but I don't think they're way off. Man I gotta learn how to draw stones better.. Back to the sketchbook.

Thor's mighty hammer.

Trying to do this sketch a day.. whew.. I got the most recent Thor with Copiel on pencils and Laura Martin doing colors.. What a pretty book-hopefully the quality maintain for some time.. I'm afraid they'll change teams and give us a C-class book pretty soon. But right now, I'm enjoying the visuals..

I love Copiel's redesign of Thor.. It's just right.. I even like the really squat face he's giving him; he's doesn't have a cookie cutter "hero" face you're used to seeing in comics a'la Jim Lee and co. ( not that I'm hating on Jim. His stuff is fun, but all of the characters have that feeling of sameness)

Anyway here's my take on Thor.. I really don't like his bottom half, and his face looks slightly geriatric, but for me that's what a daily sketch is about, taking chances and doing something different. As you can see I also wanted to draw trees. So I did. Even though they are blob trees.

The Proposal.

What if.. Ms.Majesty were approached by Captain Danger.. In a bar... ( the names of the actual superheroes have been altered to protect their privacy).
