Back to the doodles

Here is some stuff that is actually very old.. I really never stopped doodling.. I just haven't had lot's of time to scan my stuff.

so here's a nod to my sketch a day, which I'm trying to get back to asap.

GL Remix

Took the Recent GL painting into photoshop. A few filter, textures, and a brushstroke here and there.. and voila. I'm a old fashioned analog guy, but you can't beat the digital msg of photoshop.

New GL Painting

I still have a little post work to do in photoshop.. I'm not loving the BG, but I put a lot of sweat and tears into this one.. I wanted to do as much as possible on the paper..

I got to my limit one I put down colored pencil- one a thic coating of Prismacolor, the painting won't take many other mediums.. except I guess, oils.

I'll post some of the thumbnails and comps I did for this.. I didn't take any WIP's, because I didn't have much time, and I was bent on finishin ASAP.

RiqArt.com is newly launched

Hi.. I know I've been terribly absent of late.. I even have stuff to post, but I've honestly been too busy to scan.. I had some big projects to get done, and I've been working on a Green Lantern Painting too.. I'll unveil it tomorrow.

Also, I've been revamping my new website.. and it's ready.. I think I have a few places that need some touch ups, but the new RiqArt.com is up and running.. Stop by and take a look.

Y'know what?!?

I just realized that I may have been approaching my sketch-a-days wrongly..

Years ago I started doing paintings at conventions for the main reason of, I can paint faster than I can ink, and it looks WAY better too. I'm a painter at heart- I block the shapes in mentally, and ink really slows down my natural process..

Recently, I've found an inking style that favors my approach, but it's really slow.

So.. I think I'll be doing my sketch-a-days using an ink wash approach.. Faster, Better, and Cooler I think!

So who's next.. I'll get to it ASAP.

Commissions from Emerald City.

Two BW ink commissions I did at Emerald City two weekends ago..  Blackhand( Blackest Night) and Lady Bullseye(Daredevil). Both were suprisingly fun to do.

Okay.. It's been a while- although for me it seems like only a moment..

I feel like I've been on a big adventure this past month- I've had so much work and life to deal with, I did really have a chance to breathe until this weekend.

I had been pulling all nighters to get projects out: a website, an application interface, environmental rendering, brochure layout, spot illos for WOTC, and preparing and going to the Seattle Emerald City Con.

whew it's over, and I can finally find some time to post on the ole' blog. Oh I forgot, I redesigned my own website too. It up, but I'm still tweaking it. Stop over at riqart.com if you want to take it for a test run.

Okay I have some stuff that I did during the con to post and definitely more to come.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.. 

The feces has hit the proverbial fan work-wise.. I'm have a lot of exciting projects, but the un-fun part is getting several hot projects out of the door with little time..

I'm also working fulltime working on the FX network show Archer. As well as updating my website.. RiqArt 2.0 will be ready and running by next week. I'm also gearing up for the Emerald City Con, March 14th and 15th.


I'll be back on the wagon by next week,  and hopefully I can catch up with my sketch a days too..
