Haven't been around for a while due to the holidays and just being darn busy. I'm updating my design portfolio and spent all last week photografin' brochures and flyers and stuff.
I'm also working on quite a bit of stuff that I just can't show right now.. So, things have been a little light..
But... I did finish a Buffy sketch card commission that's pretty interesting.. So here it is.. with no further ado..

Star Wars Minis
Over a full year ago I worked on a fun project for WOTC( Wizards of the Coast/ Hasbro) doing figure designs for their Star Wars Miniatures line.
Basically I had to create simple turnarounds for my given characters. These drawing were then used as guides for the sculptures to work from. I think all of the sculpting and production is done in China.
Well, it was fun( How can you work on Star Wars and not have fun?), and now that it's finally out I can show some of the designs.
You might notice my fellow studiomate Georges Jeanty as the model for the Human Mercenary. Well, if you think of a mercenary as a "freelancer", then it's quite appropriate.
The only thing is that it's hard to find images of the Star Wars mini's right now, so these two images are all that I can muster up right now.
The next batch of mini's WOTC produces, I did much more interesting characters on those, so hopefully I'll see the finals soon.

Bomb Queen
Bomb Queen commission. I used the technique I learned at B.Stelfreeze's watercolor workshop.
I did this along the lines of a Petty-esque pose in mind.. He always had the women doing something cool with their hands.

Working on the B-Side
That would be the "B"rian Stelfreeze side.
I went to Brian's watercolor workshop(at Gaijin Studios) and had way too much mad knowledge stuffed, dropped, and pummeled into my brain.
I learned a new technique and had a lot of fun too.
here are the results.

Blast from the past
I'm going to get nostalgic today. Here is a painting I did almost 10 years ago when was living in Japan. This was done in the first few months I arrive in the country and a was a bit penniless at the time.
I was staying in a Hostel type situation in Kyoto, and the TV room at the place is where all of the travelers( from every corner of the globe, and even some Japanese youth that were unplugged from society) would get together, talk and have fun. Every evening it was kind of like getting together with you family and just hashing out any frustrations or celebrating accomplishments.. There was always lots of laughing and joking.
I started to take advantage of the situation and decided to paint some of the guys. I only got two done before I found a job in Osaka and moved. But this picture was of Tracy. I never kept in touch but I remember she was from Canada and was very quiet and kind.
The watercolor set I did this with- I bought in downtown Kyoto, near Kawaramachi( for those would know), and It's the best watercolor set I've ever had.. I still use it to this date, and most of the watercolor commissions you've seen on my blog were done using this same set.. It's almost ten years old now, but it's still helping me to do my paintings.

Marvel Masterpiece !! Artist Proof.. Red HULK!!
Here's a Marvel masterpiece artist sketch proof I just got approved.. I started with a drawing on a Studio Revolver car( that I also finshed, as you see), and used that as a study for the final card.
BW Copic markers and then acrylic paints. I haven't used acrylics in a while( been sticking with watercolors lately) so it was like meeting an old friend.
I used to work exclusively with acrylics then jumped to oils (for the experience), and then watercolors(for their speed and easy transport), so I just haven't had a reason to do much with acrylics until now.
I'll be painting all of my artist proofs, and I have some cool ideas in mind already.

Heroes Commission
Okay.. I'm back.. I've been working on a low key project- and a time consuming one at that. So I haven't had much new stuff I could post.
But.. Alas.. Heroes Con has passed and some of the commissions I did there are rolling in.
The first was an Hawkeye.
